Infrastructure at the foundation
Valence is grounded in electricity networks, asset management and engineering delivery, including long-life assets, constrained operational environments and risk-informed investment.
About Valence
Principal Consultant
Richard is an infrastructure strategy, asset management and transformation leader with 18 years’ experience across critical infrastructure.
Before founding Valence, Richard held leadership, asset management, engineering and product ownership roles at Powerco and Orion. His experience includes long-term investment planning, asset health and risk modelling, engineering delivery, information and systems improvement, process optimisation and organisational change.
He works best where technical, operational and commercial issues intersect, turning complex evidence, competing priorities and cross-functional problems into clear decisions and practical action.
His experience includes leading a multi-office asset engineering team, governing long-term investment programmes, and presenting a data-informed approach to network investment planning to infrastructure leaders from across Europe at the Copperleaf European Summit in Brussels.
Why Valence
Practical support grounded in infrastructure experience and shaped around the problem at hand.
Valence is grounded in electricity networks, asset management and engineering delivery, including long-life assets, constrained operational environments and risk-informed investment.
The underlying decision, information, process and delivery challenges are shared across water, transport, ports, local government and other asset-intensive sectors.
Valence is not tied to a particular system, supplier or predetermined solution. The focus is the real problem, the evidence and a useful result.
Support can continue as recommendations move into decisions, implementation, adoption and sustained improvement.
